HUMBOLT grazing rye is a leafy variety designed to be grazed. It should NOT be confused with a combining rye.
Growing approximately 3 weeks earlier than Italian ryegrass, HUMBOLT is ideal for increasing early spring forage on the farm.
Use it to provide an early-bite for dairy cows or as fresh forage for lactating sheep.
It can be sown after combine harvesting a Combicrop® in late summer, where it will absorb the nitrogen produced by the peas and reduce winter leaching of all soil nutrients.
HUMBOLT has a large fibrous rooting system which improves the soil structure.
Sow at 65 kilos per acre in September – October/mid-November, preferably in a free-draining, dry, sheltered field.
Available as Conventional seed.
HUMBOLT qualifies for agri-grant scheme SFI SOH4.
Disclaimer: Before ordering seed for agri-grant schemes please check with your governing body for any changes to scheme requirements.
