Agricultural ryegrass/clover grass mixtures are often sold as suitable for horse paddocks. They are not. Agricultural ryegrasses are bred to produce high sugar forage that will give rapid weight gain and high milk production in livestock. When kept at a young stage by grazing, agricultural ryegrass is also low in fibre.
These are the exact opposites of what is needed for healthy horses and ponies.
